Taste:
E.H. Taylor Warehouse C Bourbon is a distinguished single-barrel bourbon, meticulously crafted from Mash Bill #1 at the renowned Buffalo Trace Distillery. Sharing its lineage with esteemed blends like Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, and George T. Stagg, this bourbon has a lower rye content compared to Mash Bill #2. The result is a smooth and delightful experience with dominant notes of rye and malted barley. On the palate, expect sweet notes of dried fruit, layered with black pepper and a hint of fresh dill. The finish is long and sweet, with subtle caramel overtones and an oaky conclusion.
History:
E.H. Taylor Warehouse C Bourbon is a limited edition that showcases one of E.H. Taylor’s unique production methods. This bourbon is crafted by an innovator ahead of his time. In 1869, E.H. Taylor acquired a small distillery in Frankfurt, Kentucky, originally named The Old Fire Copper Distillery. He modernized it with copper fermentation tanks, advanced grain grinding equipment, and unique columnar stills.
Taylor’s innovative techniques included aging whiskey in climate-controlled rickhouses, distinguishing his methods from those who added juices, syrups, acids, and tobacco to their bourbons. Partnering with Treasury Secretary John G. Carlisle, Taylor was instrumental in passing the Bottled-In-Bond Act of 1897. This act mandated that any spirit labeled as “Bonded” or “Bottled-in-Bond” must be the product of a single distiller, at one distillery, during one distillation season, supervised by the U.S. government for at least four years, and bottled at a minimum of 100 proof in federally bonded warehouses.
This bourbon, crafted from hand-selected barrels and bottled at over 125 proof, exemplifies the traditional craftsmanship of pre-Prohibition bourbon under Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr.’s ownership of Buffalo Trace Distillery.
Please drink responsibly. You must be at least 21 years of age to enjoy alcoholic beverages.
