History
Eagle Rare 17 Year 2015 was first crafted at Buffalo Trace Distillery in 1975, during a time when whiskey sales were at a low. Master Distiller Charles Beam aimed to reintroduce bourbon as a luxury spirit, initially bottling it at 101 proof to compete directly with Wild Turkey. In 1989, The Sazerac Company acquired several brands, including Eagle Rare, and in 1992, they purchased Buffalo Trace Distillery.
By 2005, the brand transitioned from the 101 proof version to the 90-proof version known today. In 2012, after facility upgrades, the ten-year age statement was removed, and the single barrel proof signifier was eliminated to allow more efficient blending of individual barrel flavors.
Eagle Rare whiskey is aged for no less than ten years, ensuring a smooth and flavorful experience. The brand’s dedication to quality has earned numerous awards over the years. In 2011, the Eagle Rare Life Program was launched, celebrating community heroes and awarding the “Reach Higher Eagle Rare Life Award” along with a $50,000 donation to the winner’s charity of choice.
